Almost finished!

As the weeks pass I am getting more and more impatient to call this project done (see image above of man-child forced to sit on scooter and make “vroom” sounds).  None the less there can be no denying that the end is definitely near.

I recruited the lovely Nancy to help me re-upholster the original seat.  This proved to be quite a learning experience for both of us.  After burning an entire Sunday together at the sewing machine we decided that we had pretty much just accomplished a model for a real upholsterer to follow.

All the lines were right, but the seams were funky and the fake diamond tuck pattern really stood out against the finish quality of the rest of the bike.
$100 later things are looking much better thanks to the good people at O and R Upholstery.  Unfortunately I can’t think of a way to give Nancy her sunday back.
Rich Humphrey and I have managed to get the back half of the beast wired up.  So all that remains is to connect the instrument panel, head light, front turn signals and of course the ground effects that I have mounted in the front end.
A shameful amount of time was spent hacking the old seat latch back into useable form as well, this time with the addition of a handle to aid in setting the kick-stand.

Thats all for now.  For those of you following my progress it is my sincere hope that my next post will include photos and video of a finished project!  Wish me luck.
