Progress report: Arthur Gould

I recently posted some images from my Dad’s studio, where he is working on two new monumental sculptures.  Today he sent me some more up to date pictures.  You can mark the progress by checking my original post here.

The first is a self portrait in the form of Saint Sebastian.  I am pleased to report that the rope used was found during my stay at the San Francisco Dump.  The mixed-media accessories in these pieces (rope, halo, eyeglasses, mirror) mark a potential new direction in his work.
As I mentioned in the last post, the portrait of my Step Mother Cynthia, will reference a small ivory figure once used in chinese medicine to assist in the delicate business of discussing a ladies ailments with her physician  without any improper involvement of her own body.  It should be noted that Cynthia is a practicing acupuncturist.  Once again, you can see some of Arthur’s finished work at his website.
