Trophy

I’m still not totally sure how I feel about this one so far.  I’m real pleased with the antler mounts, and I like the range of colors.  Maybe they all aren’t quite working together yet.  I have to keep reminding myself that I am working under peculiar circumstances as artist in residence at the dump.  I find I need to work much faster.  Ordinarily I would be content to let a piece sit for months until the right parts came along to finish it.  The flip side is that here, the selection of parts is unbeatable.  In any case my show is right around the corner so the pressure is on.

Perhaps the glass doorknob eyes aren’t necessary.  Without them he sort of looks like he is wearing designer shades.  Also, here is a process shot to illustrate how some of the decisions were made.
For a few weeks the head from this piece was going to be the chassis for a drag racer.  Look for what becomes of the front wheels in my next post.
Kinda hard to imagine this place looking like a gallery in a few weeks.....
