I just wrapped up my first week out at the S.F. dump. Im still blown away by all the goodies that people are willing to let go of. Still, nuthins for free. The environment there is a tad harsh, as I hope these images might indicate. Lotsa bulldozer, and truck traffic, noise, dust, and most of all stink. I still think its totally worth it.
Working overtime to render the studio too full to function in.
Here is a detail of an old treddle style sewing machine that I am pretty excited about. I think I’m overdue for a human powered kinetic sculpture.
This is the closest thing to a project that I have going so far. I hope to wire up an old neon sign transformer inside the glass tube to make a jacob’s ladder.
At a glance it looks hopeless, but there’s gold in them thar hills!
Everything looks a bit cooler when viewed through an overhead projector lens.
This here claims to be a “Relaxacizor”. Which apparently is a fancy name for a gadget that administers a small electric shock to the body. Might be a nice way to use up some of the old volt meters I found last week.
